RMBK comes from the shared vision of Tijmen Veldhoen and Merijn Sabée, both industrial designers trained in the Delft method, deeply passionate about light as a design element. Like the architects of the night, they shape darkness with light.

Light is pivotal to our existence, influencing biological processes, mental health, and mood. It wields the power to significantly impact our lives — from ensuring safety on roads to enhancing productivity at work, creating ambiance in hospitality, and promoting well-being in healthcare settings.

Our approach to light varies across contexts, always prioritizing sustainability. Traditional incandescent bulbs have given way to smart dimming systems and energy-efficient LEDs. We embrace environmentally friendly production methods, including the reuse of materials to create new objects whenever possible. This commitment extends to preserving darkness itself, advocating for reduced lighting independent of specific fixtures or brands.

 

We believe designers bear a responsibility to better the world, not just by solving problems but by enhancing the positives. Thus, we also explore light art, bespoke projects, and installations to inspire people through unique experiences with light and foster a sense of wonder.
