Ons Boom is an interactive art installation we designed for the innovative Buurtschap te Veld in Eindhoven. This vertical community garden symbolizes the collective growth of the new neighborhood and, through its lighting, serves as a unifying meeting point for residents. Although our proposal was not selected in the open call, it stands out for its unique concept and design, embodying the core values of playfulness, innovation, landscape integration, connectivity, and interactivity.
The open call invited spatial designers and artists to create an iconic landmark for Buurtschap te Veld, a burgeoning neighborhood in northern Eindhoven featuring around 670 homes. The landmark was intended to be placed in the Buurthart, the beating heart of the community, where a square hosts small-scale activities and diverse enterprises such as cafes, yoga studios, and creative spaces. The brief emphasized the need for a design that is a true eyecatcher, providing a playful, innovative, and interactive focal point that enhances the unique character of Buurtschap te Veld and fosters a sense of community.
